The Camino 50 is another great product for fly fishermen from the Texas based company. Here’s why.
Have you ever wondered about the best way to transport (wet) wading gear to and from the water? I have. Often times I’ve put my wet waders and boots into the footwell of my car. But I was never really happy with that. That’s why I started looking for a durable bag to fit in all of my wading gear including my jacket. I finally found one.

First Impression of the YETI Camino 50
When I first got my hands on the YETI Camino 50 I was surprised how big this bag was. The 50 is the biggest version of the Camino so if you don’t need a lot of space you can size down to the 35 or even 20L version. The bag we got for testing came in storm gray
What also struck me right away was the very sturdy built of this bag (it’s the same fabric that YETI uses on their Panga series). You can tell this bag can take some abuse and won’t mind. On the other hand that means it’s not a bag that’s great to pack into another bag for transport. I mean it works but it does not fold down to a small size due to its heavy duty material.
Use Cases for the Camino
My main intention when I got this bag was to find a good solution to transport my wading gear. When I’m done fishing and everything is wet from wading deep, I want a quick and easy solution that guarantees me that the moisture stays in the bag. The Camino is ideal for that purpose in my eyes for a number of reasons.
First of all it comes with the necessary capacity to easily hold a pair of waders, wading boots and a wading jacket. You can also fit a hip bag or sling pack on top if necessary. Secondly, the inside of the Camino is easy to wash off – which is a great feature if you put in dirty wading boots. Thirdly, this bag stays open when you put in on the floor which makes it very easy to load.
More Versatility on the Inside
On top of that the interior design of the Camino is very thought through. On the sides you find compartments that are “fenced” off from the main one which means that they will stay dry even if you put in your wet wading gear. The Camino also features a zippered pocket on the inside for valuables. Please be aware that this pocket is not waterproof. And of course, although the bag’s fabric is waterproof, water can still penetrate from the top since you can’t close the Camino entirely from the top.
Great Handle Design
The handles are another feature of this bag that I loved when I put it to use. They are long enough to carry the bag over your shoulder which is a great feature when walking to a dock or to the beach. Integrated into the handles is another straight set of handles closer to the edge of the bag which come in very handy if you want to grab the bag while making sure nothing falls out.
Last but not least, the YETI Camino features multiple attachment options to attach additional gear such as the YETI Sidekick Dry.
Multi-Purpose
If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you know I am a big fan of multi purpose products. This holds true for the Camino as well. I see this bag being a great companion for a family for a day trip to the beach. Surfers can use it to transport their wet suits. Climbers can throw all their gear inside and make sure they haven’t forgotten anything.
Final Verdict on the YETI Camino
Before getting the Camino, I didn’t know I needed this bag for my wading expeditions. But now I am pretty sure it will become a constant companion. It ticks all the boxes you need for a wading bag and will surely last a few years.
